My tandem application with User:Vogone for Wikimania 2019 convinced the jury. We have been awarded scholarships by Wikimedia Germany (WMDE) to attend Wikimania 2019 at Stockholm University from August 14-18.

WMDE for the first time is trying out tandem applications together with the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) to "promote international exchange between the German and the international community", and "strengthening the movement idea within the German-speaking community".

Three (3) spots were available, and we had to make a joint application to convince the jury about what we hoped to learn from each other and why we want to work and promote a particular project(s) together. We still needed to apply for the regular Wikimania scholarship just in case we didn't get selected.

At Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town, User:Vogone and I, together with User:Base worked together to install and test MediaWiki farms. I have since become an ambassador for the use of MediaWiki outside of the Wikimedia movement, and have successfully implemented the MediaWiki as a Content Management System (CMS) at educational institutions including the Madina Institute of Science & Technology.

For Wikimania 2019, we are planning a joint presentation related to capacity (skill) development for new editors is planned, which is a highly relevant topic to both the Lithuanian and Ghanaian Wikimedia communities. Both of us are currently in the process of establishing a Wikimedia user group; the Global Open Initiative, a user group focussing on Open Educational Resources and the Wikipedia Education Program and User:Vogone setting up the first user group in Lithuania.
